Jammu and Kashmir Fencing Association in collaboration with District Fencing Association Ramban organized 7th District Fencing Championship 2025 in Banihal, Ramban. The two-day event concluded with final matches and a colourful valedictory function. The Community Hall Banihal saw dozens of young fencers from across Ramban district, including Banihal, Khari, and Ramsoo, participating in the two-day championship. Four age categories witnessed keen contests, with participants showing skills, agility, and discipline in the fast-emerging sport of fencing. President, Journalists Association Ramban, Muhammad Taskeen Wani, graced the occasion as Chief Guest, while DDC Councillor Ramsoo Bashir Ahmed Nayak was Guest of Honour. Engineer Shadab Ahmad Wani, President Banihal Traders Federation, and Kewal Kumar attended as special guests. Medals were awarded to top three in each category—Gold, Silver, Bronze—while participation certificates were given to all participants to encourage budding fencers. Participants and spectators appreciated the government and J&K Fencing Association for organizing such a grand sports event in Banihal, which is helping nurture local sporting talent. The championship highlighted Banihal’s growing interest in fencing, an Olympic sport gaining popularity across Jammu and Kashmir.
