Member of Parliament Ruhullah Mehdi, while talking to the media during his visit to Sonamarg, said that the people of Ladakh pursued their demands for statehood and inclusion under the Sixth Schedule peacefully for the last five years, but continuous neglect has pushed them to the edge. He said the people of Ladakh have been ignored for years and are now forced into agitation. Referring to the abrogation of Article 370, Ruhullah remarked, “Today, even those who had once said the August 5, 2019 decision was good, now realize it was not in their favour. That decision, whether for Jammu and Kashmir or Ladakh, only snatched away our rights.” Appealing to the people of Ladakh, he urged them to continue their struggle peacefully: “Fight for your rights peacefully — we are with you.”
