बतमालू ट्रेडर्स असोसिएशन ने कश्मीरी बस चालकों पर हमलों के खिलाफ विरोध की चेतावनी दी

Srinagar, Uttarakhand:Batmaloo Traders Association Warns of Protests Over Attacks on Kashmiri Bus Drivers The Batmaloo Traders Association on Tuesday held a press conference at its office in Batmaloo, Srinagar, with Association President Abrar Khan expressing serious concern over the recent alleged attacks on Kashmiri bus drivers in Ludhiana, Punjab, and Haryana. Addressing the media, Abrar Khan termed the incidents deeply unfortunate and alleged that the second attack could be part of a larger conspiracy aimed at creating tensions between Kashmiris and people from other parts of the country. He, however, called for a thorough investigation into the incidents. Khan said the first incident had initially appeared to be the result of a spontaneous dispute. However, he claimed that subsequent statements from passengers had raised questions about the handling of the matter by Haryana Police. He alleged that there had been a delay in taking appropriate action and claimed that an individual detained in connection with the incident was released before an FIR was registered. According to him, an FIR was subsequently registered against two individuals following pressure. Expressing concern over the safety of Kashmiris working outside the Union Territory, Khan alleged that traders, transporters, shawl sellers and other people travelling outside the region for their livelihoods were facing harassment, intimidation and physical assaults. He said Kashmir had a long-standing tradition of hospitality, with tourists welcomed warmly in the Valley, and urged people not to allow isolated incidents to damage relations between Kashmiris and the rest of the country. Khan appealed to Union Home Minister Amit Shah to take serious cognisance of the matter. He also urged the Chief Ministers of Haryana and Punjab to ensure the safety of Kashmiris living and working in their respective states and take strict action against those found responsible. Representing the concerns of the trading and transport communities, the association president referred to the role of traders' and manufacturers' organisations and warned that the community would not remain silent if such incidents continued. He further claimed that members of the community, including women and people engaged in small businesses and itinerant trade, were increasingly feeling unsafe while travelling outside Jammu and Kashmir. Issuing a warning, Khan said that if the authorities failed to address their concerns and ensure adequate security, traders could be compelled to launch protests. He also referred to possible economic measures, including boycotts, if the situation remained unresolved. “We are peace-loving people and believe in national unity. We are appealing for concrete action, not merely tweets and assurances. The government must ensure the safety of Kashmiris outside the region. If our concerns continue to be ignored, we will be forced to take to the streets in protest,” Khan said. The association called upon the concerned authorities to investigate the incidents impartially, hold those responsible accountable in accordance with the law, and take effective steps to prevent further attacks.
