Supreme Court has dismissed all four SLP petitions filed against the decision to transfer the 2015 sacrilege-related cases from the Punjab districts of Moga, Faridkot, and Bathinda to Chandigarh. The most serious aspect of this matter is that the victims of sacrilege themselves have been continuously struggling in the courts in pursuit of justice, yet the Punjab government did not even consider it necessary to challenge the High Court’s transfer order. This raises serious questions about the government’s intent and its seriousness toward delivering justice. From the sacrilege cases to the Maur bomb blast, the conduct of the Aam Aadmi Party government clearly appears to be aligned more with protecting the accused rather than ensuring justice for Sikhs. Despite coming to power with a promise of delivering justice within 24 hours, more than four years have passed and no concrete steps toward justice are visible. Instead, the government’s silence and alleged behind-the-scenes collusion are benefiting the accused.
