SLUG: HYD HINDU LAND SOURCE: LIVE U 97 Reporter: DM Seshagiri Hyderabad: Hyderabad Camera: Mohanraj Pillay The Kunthi Madhava Swamy Temple, located in Nava Kandravada village, Pithapuram constituency, Andhra Pradesh, is facing a serious encroachment issue. Without any official permissions, temple land is being illegally occupied for establishing a Christian graveyard. Cross-marked graves have started appearing on the Endowment land belonging to the temple. This raises serious questions: * Will the authorities take action? * Will the encroachment be stopped? * Who will protect Madhava Swamy’s sacred land? Pithapuram (AP): Viswa Hindu Parishad (VHP) State President D. Venkateswara Rao and Surendra Dattu have strongly objected to the establishment of graveyards belonging to other religions on Hindu temple lands. They stated that several graves have already been constructed on the banks of Nakkulamma Cheruvu in Navakhandravada, land that belongs to the Kunti Madhava Swamy Temple in Pithapuram. Now, construction work for a full-scale graveyard has reportedly begun on this land. They further mentioned that the Executive Officer of the Kunti Madhava Swamy Temple has lodged a complaint with the Pithapuram Tahsildar regarding the issue. They urged authorities to protect the temple’s land and prevent further encroachment. Speaking to Zee Media Surya Akondi the local villager and VHP vice president Surya Akondi said `` As per village record, there are no Christian peoples living in the village, so from where did Christian's come? How can they build a Christian cemetery in Hindu temple land? They are threatening us that this land belongs to the SC community. so far, we took this to higher authority notice but no use. Why is action not taken till now, we request our temple land to be handed over back`` surya said. Kunthi Madhava Swami Temple Executive Officer Mr.Sriramulu said ``This is an ancient Hindu temple. During the reign of the kings, lands were donated to the temple, and these lands are located in Navakandrawada village. However, some individuals from the local Christian community are allegedly involved in anti-social activities and have been threatening us. We have brought this matter to the attention of the police and the district magistrate multiple times. Despite repeated requests, these activities have not been stopped," the EO said. Mr Venkatesh, VHP State President speaking to Zee Media he said ``Shame on those who have encroached upon the temple land. This unlawful act will have serious consequences for them. We strongly demand that immediate action be taken to put an end to this," he added.
