Uri, Feb 13: A major protest was held on Friday in Uri against the Power Development Department (PDD), with members of the Uri Traders’ Association and residents from several far-flung areas participating in large numbers to highlight the ongoing power crisis. The protesters expressed strong resentment, alleging that electricity supply in the area has remained disrupted for nearly a month, causing severe inconvenience to the general public. Traders said the prolonged outage has badly affected their businesses, while students and patients are also facing serious difficulties due to the lack of electricity. Speaking to the media, the protesters demanded the immediate restoration of power supply in the area. They also urged authorities to waive this month’s electricity bill, stating it is unfair to charge residents when there has been no proper power supply. The protesters appealed to the administration to take urgent steps to resolve the issue and restore normal electricity supply at the earliest.
