10 Army personnel were killed and 11 others injured after an Army vehicle skidded off the road at Khanni Top area of Bhaderwah and plunged into a deep gorge on Bhaderwah–Chamba interstate road on Thursday, officials said. Block Medical Officer (BMO) Bhaderwah, Dr Varsha Sharma said that 21 soldiers were travelling in the vehicle at the time of the accident. “Ten soldiers lost their lives in the mishap. Ten critically injured soldiers have been referred to higher medical facilities, while one soldier with minor injuries is undergoing treatment at Sub-District Hospital Bhaderwah,” she said. Officials said the accident occurred at Khanni Top near Thanala, where the Army vehicle lost control and rolled down a deep gorge. Preliminary reports suggest that frost on the road caused the vehicle to skid, leading to the tragic incident. Senior officials from the Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Indian Army reached SDH Bhaderwah to supervise the treatment and evacuation of the injured personnel. Additionally, a team of doctors and paramedical staff along with ambulances from GMC Doda has been deployed to assist the local healthcare staff in managing the emergency.
