Bandipora MLAs Failed to Secure Key Institutions: Imtiyaz Parry The Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party leader Imtiyaz Parry on Monday launched a sharp attack on the People's Democratic Party (PDP) and the Jammu & Kashmir National Conference (NC), accusing both parties of misleading the youth over promises to revoke the Public Safety Act (PSA). Speaking with the media, Parry said that leaders from the PDP and NC were raising slogans about revoking the PSA during youth meetings despite what he termed their own track record on detentions. The youth who suffered under PSA were booked during the regimes of NC and PDP. They have no moral ground to speak on the issue now. He alleged that both parties were attempting to exploit the sentiments of young people ahead of elections by making promises that are beyond their constitutional and political reach. These are issues their own parties cannot resolve. Instead of giving false hope, they should introspect about their past governance, Parrey added. The Apni Party leader also criticised the ongoing budget session, claiming that elected representatives from Bandipora had failed to raise pressing developmental concerns. He said the district continues to lag behind in infrastructure and higher education. Bandipora is the only district without a medical college, a university campus, an agriculture university for women, or other key central institutions, he said. He further accused the district’s three legislators of failing to strongly pursue the demand for a national highway and other major development projects. Parrey urged local legislators to focus on fulfilling the promises made to the people. The residents of Bandipora need basic facilities and institutions, not political rhetoric. Our representatives must fight for tangible development instead of engaging in debates that bring no relief to the public, he said.
