Delhi: On Opposition criticising the slashing of excise duty on petrol & diesel that it will not benefit public, union FM Nirmala Sitharaman says, "If oil marketing companies are not given this support, public will have to pay a higher price for every litre of petrol and diesel. So, this is not a benefit for them. But it is the Govt which is absorbing the shock due to the increase in price abroad. So, that the burden does not fall on public."
