Today in the Lok Sabha I raised my voice for every daughter, sister and mother of this nation who is suffering in silence. Divorces are rising, domestic violence is shattering homes — and this pain is not limited to Punjab, it is tearing apart families across India. We thoroughly check the bride’s education, character and background, but turn a blind eye when it comes to the groom. Hidden drug addiction, serious illnesses and criminal tendencies are destroying lives after marriage. This hypocrisy must end! I strongly demand the Government of India and all State Governments: Introduce a new law immediately,make dope tests and mandatory medical fitness certificates compulsory for every groom before issuing the marriage certificate. One small reform. One big shield for our women and for the sanctity of marriage. No more silent suffering. No more broken homes.
