A brawl during a cricket game ended in murder on the outskirts of Urugadur, Shivamogga. Sanket (15), a student studying SSLC, was the unfortunate victim of murder. When a group of minor boys attacked his friend, Sanket went to break up the fight, and the group attacked him fatally. Sanket died on the way to the hospital. The incident has created a tense atmosphere in Urugadur. A group of seven minors has been arrested in connection with the murder. The scuffle began during a cricket game after Girish was playing; Sanket intervened to quell the commotion and was murdered. An examination will determine whether the minors consumed marijuana. A special beat and an outpost will be arranged in Urugadur to bolster security ahead of the festival. The Chief Minister announced Rs. 15 lakh compensation for Sanket’s family, with funds from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund and the Education Department. Local leaders and officials, including MLA S.N. Channabasappa and former minister KS Eswarappa, visited the hospital and the morgue and called for strict action against the perpetrators. The community expressed anger and urged protection for families and resolution of the incident. A tight police cordon has been established in Urugadur, and further measures are being taken to prevent untoward incidents during the festival.
