In a chilling case of parricide that has stunned the city, a 33-year-old tech professional allegedly stabbed his retired Navy officer father and dentist mother to death inside their upscale apartment in east Bengaluru on Wednesday morning. The incident occurred around 7.30 am in Vignan Nagar, under the HAL Police Station limits. The victims were identified as Naveen Chandra Bhatt, 60, a retired Navy Captain, and his wife Dr Shyamala Bhatt, 55, a practising dentist. Police said the couple was attacked inside their residence following a family dispute. The bodies have been shifted to the Bowring Hospital mortuary. The couple’s daughter, who resides in the United States, is on her way to Bengaluru. The post-mortem examination will be conducted after her arrival. Investigators are continuing to question the accused and gather forensic evidence from the scene as neighbours struggle to come to terms with the brutality of the crime inside what they described as a quiet residential complex.
