SMC Casual Labourers, Daily Wagers Hold Massive Protest; Demand Release of 4-Month Pending Salaries Srinagar: Casual labourers and daily wage employees of the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) staged a massive protest on Monday, demanding the immediate release of their pending salaries for the past four months. The protesting employees said they are facing severe financial hardships due to the prolonged delay in wages. Raising slogans against the authorities, the workers accused the SMC administration of ignoring their repeated pleas. They said despite assurances given on several occasions, no concrete steps have been taken to clear their dues. The protesters issued an ultimatum of three days to the authorities, warning that if their demands are not met within the stipulated time, they will intensify their agitation and resort to stronger protest measures. The employees appealed to the government to intervene immediately and resolve the issue at the earliest to prevent further unrest.
