Srinagar,
Mostly dry weather is expected across Jammu and Kashmir today, with brief showers likely in southern and hilly districts including Kishtwar, Doda, Anantnag, Ramban, Udhampur, and Kathua till afternoon. According to The Kashmir Weather forecaster, dry conditions will dominate across J&K till October 20, except for isolated spots receiving light rainfall. Zojila Pass witnessed a sharp temperature dip to minus 8°C, signalling early winter, with snow depth around five inches and light winds at six kmph. Sinthan Top recorded 8–9 inches of snow, while Daksum reported up to two inches. Experts termed the pattern typical for early October but noted higher intensity this year due to consecutive western disturbances. Authorities have advised travellers to remain cautious on snow-covered routes, particularly Zojila and Sinthan, where slippery conditions persist.
