Handwara, Feb 24 A bakery manufacturing unit in Handwara was sealed by authorities after unhygienic conditions were observed during an inspection carried out by the Food Safety Department and local administration. Officials said the inspection was conducted following complaints from residents regarding the preparation of fenny at the unit. During the visit, the team reportedly found sanitation lapses and violations of prescribed hygiene standards. The authorities immediately sealed the premises and collected samples of flour and other raw materials for laboratory analysis. An official said further action will be taken based on the test reports and findings of the investigation. The administration has warned all bakery and food manufacturing units in the area to strictly adhere to food safety norms, stating that any compromise with public health will not be tolerated. Locals have welcomed the action and urged the authorities to carry out regular inspections to ensure quality and hygiene in food production units.
