Forest Block,
The National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) on Saturday organised the 4th National Lok Adalat of 2025, marking another nationwide initiative to strengthen consensual and amicable dispute resolution across the country. As with other parts of the Chenab Valley and the rest of India, the Lok Adalat was held at the premises of the Principal District and Sessions Judge Court, Bhaderwah. The event was organized by the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Bhaderwah under the leadership of the Principal District and Sessions Judge and Chairman, DLSA. The occasion highlighted Lok Adalats as a major relief-giving initiative for the people of the hilly district, with Doda district leading across the Union Territory in settling disputes through Lok Adalats. The nationwide initiative is being conducted under the leadership of Justice Surya Kant, Chief Justice of India and Patron-in-Chief, NALSA, and Justice Vikram Nath, Judge, Supreme Court of India and Executive Chairman, NALSA. The programme aims to bring citizens, institutions and the justice system onto a unified platform for timely and amicable settlement of disputes. Lok Adalats have evolved into one of India’s most inclusive dispute-resolution mechanisms, enabling conciliatory dialogue to restore relationships, reduce litigation costs, encourage participatory justice, and strengthen public trust in the justice delivery system. At Bhaderwah, the 4th National Lok Adalat addressed a wide range of pre-litigation and pending matters, including criminal compoundable offences, plea bargaining cases, cheque dishonour cases, bank recovery cases, motor accident claim cases, compoundable traffic challans, labour disputes, public utility service disputes, matrimonial disputes (excluding divorce), land acquisition, service and revenue matters, IPR cases, consumer cases and other civil disputes. The Lok Adalat continues to play a pivotal role in reducing the burden on regular courts by offering litigants an accessible and efficient forum for dispute resolution. Notably, in 2025, the first three National Lok Adalats have disposed of more than 10.50 crore cases, reflecting growing public confidence and sustained efforts by Legal Services Authorities across the country. The initiative underscores a justice system where no citizen is left behind and amicable settlement becomes a preferred and trusted path for resolving everyday disputes.
