In a major crackdown against hoarding and black-marketing of LPG cylinders, Doda Police carried out a successful operation in Bhaderwah, recovering 75 LPG cylinders and arresting three accused persons involved in the illegal trade. Acting on the directions of SSP Doda Sandeep Mehta (JKPS), a police team from Police Station Bhaderwah received reliable information that some individuals were illegally selling LPG cylinders to the public in the Bhaderwah area. Acting swiftly on the information, the police team rushed to the spot and conducted a raid, during which three persons were apprehended. The accused have been identified as Abdul Hamid, son of Mohd Sultan, resident of Masjid Mohalla Bhaderwah; Ghulam Rasool, son of Abdul Aziz Wani, resident of Mashra Dhar Tehsil Marwah, Kishtwar (at present Pasri Bhaderwah); and Mohd Sakhi, son of Ghulam Mohd, resident of Kulhand Doda (presently Chakka Bhaderwah). While sharing details, SDPO Bhaderwah Naveed Shoket Qazi said that during checking, police recovered 8 filled LPG cylinders and 15 empty cylinders from the possession of Abdul Hamid, while 28 filled LPG cylinders and 24 empty cylinders were recovered from Ghulam Rasool. In total, 75 LPG cylinders were seized from their joint possession. He informed that in this connection, Case FIR No. 29/2026 under Section 3/7 of the Essential Commodities Act has been registered at Police Station Bhaderwah, and further investigation has been taken up. At a time when the public is already facing difficulties in obtaining LPG cylinders due to the ongoing Israel–US and Iran war situation, such illegal hoarding and black-marketing activities are causing additional hardship to consumers. Doda Police has reiterated its commitment to take strict action against hoarding and black-marketing of essential commodities, which adversely affect the general public.
