As the inflow and outflow at the barrage crossed 4 lakh cusecs, disaster management authorities warned that streams and rivulets may overflow, and advised people in low-lying areas to remain alert. Due to the sudden and heavy rise in Krishna river flood levels, the district administration has declared the first danger warning at Prakasam Barrage. At 9 a.m., the water level at the barrage reached 14.7 feet, leading officials to lift all the gates and release 5,53,654 cusecs of water into the sea. For irrigation needs of the Krishna delta, 8,836 cusecs of water are being released into the eastern and western main canals.
