Hyderabad is witnessing a new innovation in cooking technology. A locally developed product called the Turbo Stove is emerging as an alternative to conventional LPG gas stoves. Designed and manufactured in Tamil Nadu, this innovative cooking system uses advanced airflow technology to generate strong heat while consuming minimal fuel. At a time when LPG shortages and rising gas prices are affecting households and small food businesses, this Made-in-India solution is drawing significant attention across the city. The Turbo Stove concept originally gained popularity in Erode, where it has already seen huge demand. Inspired by its success, several restaurant owners from Hyderabad have started exploring the technology. One such example is Mr. Santosh, owner of Hari Dosa Restaurant in Hyderabad. During the recent gas crisis, Santosh travelled to Erode and purchased a Turbo Stove to keep his family business running. “This is my father’s legacy. Nearly 40 years ago, my father started this food business and we don’t want to lose it. The gas crisis pushed us to find alternatives. During COVID we learned many lessons, and now again we are learning not to depend on a single source. With this wooden-fuel Turbo Stove, we are successfully running the restaurant and are prepared to face any future crisis.” Customers visiting the restaurant say they appreciate the effort taken by the owner to continue serving food despite the challenges. “Dosa is my favourite, and every Sunday we come here with our family. Due to the LPG crisis they are charging ₹10 extra, but we are happy to pay because the owner is continuing service without disappointing customers.” Mr. Santosh also said that manufacturers in Hyderabad are now studying the Turbo Stove model from Tamil Nadu. Currently, both online and offline stocks are running out, and many people are travelling to Erode to purchase it. “I brought one stove from Erode, but for my other branch we couldn’t get another due to high demand. Now Hyderabad-based vendors are planning to introduce similar models in the local market,” he added. The Turbo Stove is being promoted as fuel-efficient, eco-friendly, and capable of producing a high flame suitable even for large-scale cooking. As India pushes for self-reliance and sustainable alternatives, innovations like the Turbo Stove may open a new chapter in everyday cooking methods. Is this the beginning of a new cooking revolution in Indian kitchens? Can innovations like the Turbo Stove reduce dependence on LPG in the future? Only time will tell. But for now, Hyderabad appears to be embracing this Made-in-India innovation.
