A one-day awareness program was organized under the National Bamboo Mission at the Faculty of Forestry, Banhama, Ganderbal. The event aimed to promote bamboo cultivation and highlight its potential in enhancing rural livelihoods. Member of Parliament Mian Altaf Ahmed attended the program as the chief guest. The program witnessed the participation of faculty members, students and local farmers who were sensitized about the economic and environmental benefits of bamboo cultivation Speaking to the media, Mian Altaf said that such programs are highly beneficial for farmers. He stressed the need for the concerned department to introduce job-oriented schemes to help farmers improve their income and livelihood. He also encouraged the youth to take up agriculture and explore opportunities in allied sectors like bamboo cultivation.
