All Parties Sikh Coordination Committee (APSCC) Chairman Jagmohan Singh Raina on Saturday held a press conference at his Allochibagh office, where he strongly criticized the recent 20 percent power tariff hike announced in Jammu and Kashmir. Raina said the sudden increase has put an unfair burden on the common people who are already struggling with frequent and unscheduled power cuts during the harsh winter. He termed the hike “unjustified and insensitive,” urging the administration to immediately roll back the decision in the interest of the public. Taking a sharp dig at National Conference leader Omar Abdullah, Raina accused him of “misleading the people” on the issue of electricity supply and tariff hikes. He alleged that leaders who previously held power for decades failed to strengthen J&K’s power infrastructure and are now trying to shift blame instead of accepting responsibility. Raina further added that the people of Kashmir have been facing electricity woes for years, yet political parties use the issue only for statements, without offering concrete solutions. “The common citizen is suffering, but those who ruled the state for so long are now pretending to be unaware of the crisis,” he said. He urged the Lt. Governor administration and the Power Development Department to reconsider the tariff hike, improve supply during the ongoing winter season, and ensure that public grievances are taken seriously
