Srinagar: After the recent seizure of rotten meat and chicken in parts of the city, authorities have now confiscated a massive quantity of unlabelled honey during a food safety drive in Abanshah, HMT area of Srinagar. According to officials, around 725 kilograms of honey were seized for violating mandatory food safety and labelling norms. The stock was allegedly being stored and prepared for sale without proper labels, including details such as manufacturing date, expiry date, batch number, FSSAI license number, and place of origin. Food Safety officers said that selling unlabelled food products is a serious violation as it poses potential health risks to consumers. Samples of the seized honey have been sent for laboratory testing to verify its purity and quality. Authorities have initiated further legal action against those involved under the Food Safety and Standards Act. Officials reiterated that strict checking drives will continue across Srinagar to curb the sale of substandard and unregulated food items, especially ahead of the holy month of Ramadan. Consumers have been advised to purchase food products only with proper labelling and certification to ensure safety and quality.
