Shab-e-Qadar Observed with Devotion Across Bandipora, Thousands Pray at Sultan arfeen Ahemshareef Shrine Bandipora, March 17: Shab-e-Qadar, the holiest night in the Islamic calendar also known as the Night of Power, was observed across Kashmir with deep religious fervour as thousands of devotees thronged mosques and shrines for night-long prayers and supplications. In north Kashmir’s Bandipora district, the largest congregation was witnessed at the revered Sultan arfeen Ahemshareef shrine, where devotees gathered in large numbers to offer special prayers, recite the Holy Quran and seek forgiveness during the blessed night of the ongoing holy month of Ramzan. People from different villages of the district arrived at the shrine late Monday evening and remained engaged in prayers till the early hours of Tuesday. Devotees prayed for peace, brotherhood and prosperity across the world. Similar religious gatherings were also witnessed in mosques across Bandipora, including in villages such as Naidkhai, Sumbal, Hajin and other areas where worshippers observed night-long prayers. Clerics and religious scholars delivered sermons highlighting the significance of Shab-e-Qadar, reminding devotees that the night is described in the Holy Quran as “better than a thousand months.” They urged people to follow the teachings of Islam and the life of Prophet Muhammad. Shab-e-Qadar marks the night when the first verses of the Holy Quran were revealed to Prophet Muhammad. On this night, Muslims engage in prayers, charity and reflection, seeking divine mercy and blessings.
