Farmers dependent on the irrigation canal at Sadura Ladh, fed by Brengi Nallah, have been facing acute irrigation problems, prompting demands for immediate upgradation and repairs to ensure a smooth water supply to their agricultural fields. Responding to the public demand, MLA from the Anantnag West Constituency, Abdul Majid Larmi, visited the spot to assess the situation. He was accompanied by the Executive Engineer, Flood and Irrigation Department, and AEE Flood, Syeed, who examined the condition of the canal and discussed the necessary measures required to improve irrigation facilities. During the visit, farmers apprised the MLA of the difficulties they have been facing due to the poor condition of the canal. They said hundreds of cultivators, particularly those living in far-flung villages, are affected as they solely depend on this irrigation source for their crops. On the occasion, Abdul Majid Larmi announced the release of ₹6 lakh from his Constituency Development Fund for the immediate repair and restoration of the irrigation canal at Sadura. He assured the farmers that necessary steps would be taken to upgrade the Brengi Nallah canal system so that irrigation facilities are streamlined and agricultural productivity is enhanced. The Executive Engineer of the Flood and Irrigation Department informed that the allocated funds will be utilized for repair works at the earliest to ensure proper water flow to agricultural lands. Farmers expressed gratitude to the MLA for his timely intervention and for sanctioning funds to address their long-pending issue. They said the repair of the canal will significantly improve irrigation facilities and benefit dozens of farmers across the area.
