The Department of Social Forestry, Range Ganderbal, distributed male poplar trees among farmers in Harran Shallabugh. The initiative aims to promote afforestation, environmental conservation, and sustainable livelihoods for farmers while strengthening the region’s green cover. Sajid Mehboob, Range Officer, Social Forestry Range Ganderbal, said, “Today, we began the distribution of male poplar trees in Harran Shallabugh. We have set a target to distribute 45,000 to 50,000 trees.” He highlighted the growing demand for poplar and willow trees in the region, as many locals depend on them for their livelihood. Farooq Ahmad Bhat, a local resident, said, “We are thankful to the Department of Social Forestry for providing us with poplar trees. It is a good initiative, especially for the poor, as the trees are provided free of cost.”
