KARGIL: Despite continuous rain and light snowfall in Sankoo Suru of Kargil, the martyrdom anniversary of Hazrat Imam Ali (A.S), which coincides with the 21st of Ramadan, was solemnly observed in the Sankoo Sub Division of UT Ladakh. Hazrat Imam Ali, a revered figure in Islam and the first Shia of the Muslim community, was martyred on the eve of Shab-e-Qadr. He was the cousin and son-in-law of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and fell victim to a treacherous attack by Ibn Muljam while offering prayers in the Great Mosque of Kufa (present-day Iraq) on the 19th of Ramadan in 40 AH (27 January AD 661). He succumbed to his injuries two days later, marking a pivotal moment in Islamic history. His martyrdom is commemorated globally by Muslims, especially during the Night of Qadr, one of the holiest nights in Islam. In Sankoo, special prayers were held throughout the night in various villages, where locals gathered to pray for prosperity and communal harmony. These prayers were conducted in a peaceful and solemn atmosphere, allowing the community to reflect on Imam Ali's immense contributions to Islam. An impressive religious procession was organized by Anjuman-E-Sahib Zaman Kargil and Markaz-e-Tabligat Imam Reza at Sankoo. Thousands of mourners, dressed in black, participated in the procession, chanting lamentations and beating their chests in remembrance of Imam Ali's martyrdom. The procession prominently featured the Alam-e-Hussaini and various banners, symbolizing the sacrifices made by Imam Ali. Addressing the gathering religious Scholar's highlighted on Harzat -E-Imam Ali’s (A.s)exemplary life and teachings of justice, equality, and loyalty during the event. Additionally, the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Ali (A.S) was observed in various other areas, including Anjuman-E-Inqelab Mehdi Kargil, Suru, Tai Suru, Parkachik, Purtikchay, Thangboo, Kargee, Tangole, Barsoo, Sangrah, Trespone, GMpore, Tambis, Saleskote, and Lankerchey.
