The auspicious occasion of Shab-e-Qadr, also known as Lailatul Qadr, was observed with great religious fervor and devotion across the Chenab Valley last night. Hundreds of Muslim devotees gathered in mosques and shrines across Ramban, Doda, Bhaderwah and Kishtwar districts to offer special prayers on the sacred night, also known as the Night of Power. The atmosphere was filled with deep spirituality and devotion as people spent the entire night in prayers, recitation of the Holy Quran and remembrance of Almighty Allah. According to Islamic belief, Shab-e-Qadr falls on the 27th night of the holy month of Ramadan and is regarded as one of the holiest nights in Islam, when believers seek forgiveness and mercy from Allah. In Bhaderwah Valley, the sacred night was observed with great enthusiasm and religious fervor. Hundreds of devotees assembled at Jamia Masjid Bhaderwah, where collective prayers and special supplications continued throughout the night till Sehri. Other mosques across Bhaderwah also witnessed large congregations of people offering prayers as the holy month of Ramadan approaches its conclusion. A similar night-long religious programme was organized at Masjid Sharief Kotli, where Tilawat-e-Quran and Naat Khawani were held, followed by special prayers. On the occasion, fruits, juices and dates were distributed among the participants. At the conclusion of the programme, a special Dua was offered by the Imam of Masjid Kotli for brotherhood, communal harmony, peace and prosperity in the Union Territory as well as the entire nation. People said that the night holds immense importance in Islam. They said Shab-e-Qadr is believed to be better than a thousand months of worship and marks the revelation of the Holy Quran to Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Devotees spend the entire night in prayers seeking forgiveness and blessings from Almighty Allah. Meanwhile, similar special prayers were offered in mosques across Doda, Kishtwar, Batote, Ramban, Banihal, Drabshalla and Gandoh, where Ulema and religious scholars highlighted the teachings of Islam and various aspects of the life of the Holy Prophet (SAW), urging Muslims to follow his path.
