Union Budget that encourages the growth of the textile sector welcomed by the South Indian Spinners Association. Coimbatore, Tamilnadu Following the union Budget, members of the South Indian Spinners Association, based in Coimbatore, have welcomed it, stating that the budget includes measures to further boost employment and increase exports in the textile sector, which is the second-largest employment generator in the country after agriculture. Speaking to reporters, Thuraipalanichamy, President of the South Indian Spinners Association, said that the union Budget has been framed with the objective of promoting the textile sector at the international level. He further stated that under the National Fibre Policy, the production of raw materials for textiles within India will be encouraged, which will serve as a major support for the growth of the textile industry. He added that under the SAMARTH scheme, skill development and employment opportunities in the textile sector will increase, while the Capital Support Scheme will help in the installation of modern machinery and advanced technologies in the industry. He also expressed happiness over the announcement of the Coastal Cargo Scheme, valued at ₹10,000 crore, to promote domestic cargo transportation. He noted that measures have been announced to simplify exports and imports, making textile trade easier. He further said that special schemes are expected to enhance employment in textile clusters such as Coimbatore, Karur, Tiruppur, and Erode. He concluded by stating that encouraging container manufacturing will boost exports and imports, and overall, the budget has been framed in a manner that is widely welcomed by stakeholders in the textile sector.
