In a shocking and gruesome incident that has sent shockwaves across the city, a Navy employee has been arrested for allegedly murdering a woman and attempting to dispose of her body in a brutal manner in Gajuwaka area of Visakhapatnam.
The accused, identified as Ravindra, reportedly killed his girlfriend Mounika at a residence in LV Nagar under Gajuwaka limits.
According to preliminary investigation, the crime took place while his wife was away at her parental home.
Murder Inside House, Body Dismembered.. Police officials revealed that Ravindra had invited Mounika to his house on the day of the incident. The two reportedly got into a heated argument, which escalated beyond control.
In a fit of rage, Ravindra allegedly murdered Mounika. In an attempt to cover up the crime, he dismembered the body into two parts. One portion was reportedly stored inside a refrigerator, while the other was packed into a gunny bag.
The gruesome nature of the act has shocked even seasoned investigators.
Dispute Over Navy ID Card Led to Murder
During interrogation, Ravindra disclosed key details about the motive behind the crime.
He told police that Mounika had taken his Navy ID card earlier.
The accused was reportedly worried that losing the ID card could create serious issues in his service.
He had allegedly asked her multiple times to return it.
On the day of the incident, he called her to his residence to settle the matter.
According to his statement, Mounika allegedly threatened to defame him and created a disturbance at the flat. This led to a verbal altercation between the two, during which Ravindra lost control and committed the murder.
Attempt to Destroy Evidence
Police sources further revealed that the accused had planned to dispose of the body parts at different locations to avoid detection.
He allegedly transported the head and hands to the Adavivaram area.
He attempted to burn them to destroy evidence.
The remaining body parts were kept separately inside the house.
However, his plan was foiled after police began tracking the case and gathered crucial evidence.
Accused in Custody, Case Registered
The police have taken Ravindra into custody and registered a case under Sections 103 and 238. Officials stated that further investigation is underway to establish the full sequence of events and gather forensic evidence.
City in Shock
The brutal nature of the crime has created panic and outrage among residents of Visakhapatnam. Locals have expressed concern over rising incidents of violent crimes and have urged authorities to ensure stricter law enforcement.
Police officials have assured that the case is being investigated thoroughly and that justice will be served.
