Spl Story;First Batch of GDC Banihal students complete two week internship program under NEP 2020 at Chenab Valley farming  Slug-0708ZS_RBN_GDC_NEP20_R By Raja Rehber Jamal  Location-Ramban  Anchor: To provide practical exposure to students in modern agriculture and horticulture practices beside to foster entrepreneurial skills aligned with the objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the first batch students from Government Degree College (GDC) Banihal has successfully completed their Two weeks internship program at the government-sponsored Chenab Valley Farming. The internship was conducted in accordance with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which mandates a 60-hour internship in Agriculture and Horticulture for all undergraduate students as part of their degree requirements.    During the course of the internship, students were given detailed briefings on the role and functioning of modern farming techniques in the Agriculture and Horticulture sectors. The program aimed to provide hands-on exposure to the evolving landscape of farming, while also making students aware of government initiatives promoting entrepreneurship as a viable career option, particularly for the unemployed youth of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.    A special focus was laid on the Government’s Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP), aimed at doubling farmers' income through sustainable and technology-driven practices.    To encourage innovation and entrepreneurial thinking, an idea-pitching workshop and business simulation sessions were conducted. These interactive exercises offered real-time insights into managing business ventures, understanding market dynamics, and overcoming challenges faced by entrepreneurs.   As part of the knowledge-sharing segment, Zubair Ahmed, a successful entrepreneur from District Ramban and a certified trainer, delivered a session on the formulation of Detailed Project Reports (DPRs). He shared practical strategies and guided students in developing innovative business ideas within a simulated environment designed to stimulate creative thinking.   Speaking on the occasion, Principal of GDC Banihal, Mohd Shafiq Katoch, emphasized the significance of practical learning under the NEP 2020 framework. He stated, “The National Education Policy 2020 underscores the importance of holistic learning, which extends beyond the classroom. Such internship programs are instrumental in enhancing students' employability and aligning their academic journey with real-world industry needs.” He congratulated all participating students and encouraged them to make the most of such opportunities to advance their academic and career goals.   The student interns expressed heartfelt gratitude to the college authorities and expert mentors, describing the experience as highly enriching and valuable for their future endeavors.    Feed.  Shots  Bytes.  1.
