ड्रास जीडीसी ने जम्मूकश्मीर में तीन दिवसीय अध्ययन-एक्सपोजर यात्रा आयोजित की

Government Degree College Drass successfully organized a three-day study cum exposure educational tour to Kashmir for the students of Tourism & Travel Management, Geology, and Environmental Science. The tour aimed to enhance practical learning, field-based understanding, and exposure to ecology, biodiversity, geology, environmental conservation, and sustainable tourism.
The first day of the tour began with a visit to Manasbal Lake, one of the most picturesque and ecologically significant wetlands of Kashmir. Prof. Sajad Hussain and Dr. Muneer-ul-Islam briefed the students about lake ecology and the importance of wetlands, emphasizing ecosystem services, hydrological functions, and conservation issues.
In addition, Dr. Shoaib Maqbool and Dr. Mohsin Ahmad explained the geological features of the region. They conducted a hands-on demonstration on the use of field equipment such as shovels, geological hammers, and the compass. Students learned how to collect geological samples and accurately measure the orientation and dip of rock layers, gaining valuable experience in field geology.
On the second day, the students visited Dachigam National Park, where Dr. Muneer-ul-Islam and Prof. Sajad Hussain discussed the ecological significance, biodiversity richness, and key conservation strategies adopted in the park, including wildlife protection measures.
The team then proceeded to SKUAST-Kashmir, where they interacted with scientists and researchers. At the Pollination Centre, Dr. Sajad Ahmad briefed the students about honeybee culture, pollination biology, and its economic and ecological importance.
Later, the delegation visited SP College Srinagar, one of the oldest higher education institutions in the region. The Principal of SP College warmly welcomed the students and faculty. Students interacted with the faculty and peers of the Department of Environmental Science, visited UG and PG laboratories, and explored other departments of the college.
Prof. Sajad Hussain and accompanying faculty expressed heartfelt gratitude to SP College Srinagar for their warm hospitality and for deputing Dr. Bilal Ahmad Wani to guide the entire tour of the campus.
The third day focused on understanding geological formations and tourism landscapes Dr Sajad Ahmad briefed students significance and importance of tourism . Students visited Sonamarg and Zojila, where they observed notable geological features, glacial landscapes, and discussed the tourism potential and environmental concerns associated with these high-altitude regions.
The students expressed their heartfelt thanks to Nasir Ul Mehdi Shabani, Principal GDC Drass, for providing them with this valuable opportunity to gain ground-level knowledge and practical exposure across Tourism & Travel Management, Geology, and Environmental Science.
