Kochi: The NIA conducted raids at the homes of Popular Front activists in about twenty locations across three districts in the state. Searches were conducted at the homes of accused who are yet to be arrested in various cases, including the Palakkad Sreenivasan murder. Many accused are yet to be arrested in the cases following the ban on the Popular Front. The houses of Rasheed and Naseef, accused in the Sreenivasan murder case, in Kannanur, Thrithala, Palakkad, were searched. The house of SDPI District Secretary Basheer Moulavi was searched from 5 am to 10 am yesterday. Inspections were conducted at eight centers in Ernakulam district. Inspections were conducted at Muvattupuzha, Chengamanadu, Panangad, and Vypin. The team also conducted a search in Chavakkad, Thrissur. The search was conducted at the house of SDPI leader Famis Abubakar in Palayur, Chavakkad. During the three-hour search, his mobile phone and computer hard disk were seized. The NIA estimates that the banned organization Popular Front has sleeper cells in many places in the state. There are indications that the NIA has received some crucial information in terrorism cases.
