Vice President of Jammu & Kashmir Peoples Conference, Abdul Gani Vakil, today strongly criticised the Omar Abdullah –led administration for its sheer ignorance regarding demolition drives carried out in Kangan and Jammu. Vakil said that the ignorance of the Chief Minister-equivalent authority (administrative head of UT) over such a sensitive issue is shocking, surprising, and deeply unfortunate.
Vakil remarked, “Ignorance is no excuse. The fact remains that the present Chief Minister-like authority is incompetent, visionless, and has failed on every front. A leader must be aware of what is happening under his nose, not remain disconnected from ground realities.”
Vakil said Omar Abdullah should have learnt from Arvind Kejriwal, who despite strong opposition from the Central Government, delivered exemplary governance by providing free electricity, clean drinking water, and modern technology–equipped government schools—so effective that parents in Delhi began preferring government schools over private institutions.
Vakil added, “In my 50 years of political career, I have never witnessed the kind of uncertainty prevailing in Jammu & Kashmir today. Governance appears rudderless and directionless.”
He also criticised Omar Abdullah, stating that while Omar repeatedly shows helplessness, he continues to enjoy full government facilities. “Uncertainty will end only when Omar Abdullah resigns. Otherwise, whatever wrong is happening in J&K today is the responsibility of the Omar-led government,” Vakil asserted.
