Historic Day for Srinagar: Qamarwari–Noorbagh Bridge Inaugurated After 15 Years In a landmark moment for Srinagar, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today inaugurated the long-awaited Qamarwari–Noorbagh Bridge, bringing to an end a 15-year delay that had caused immense hardship to daily commuters. The newly completed bridge will greatly ease traffic congestion and enhance connectivity between key routes including SMHS Hospital, SKIMS Soura, Baramulla National Highway, and several other vital parts of the city. Jubilant locals described the day as “nothing less than Eid,” expressing deep gratitude for the long-pending project’s completion. > “This bridge is not just a structure of steel and concrete — it is a symbol of patience, resilience, and progress. Srinagar deserves modern infrastructure, and our government remains committed to connecting people, places, and possibilities.” The bridge, delayed for years due to administrative and technical challenges, was completed under the current administration’s renewed focus on infrastructure revival and urban transformation. Adding to the city’s celebration, the Union Government has also approved a ₹700 crore Srinagar Flyover Project connecting Lal Chowk to Parimpora. The ambitious plan promises to revolutionize city mobility, cut travel time, and modernize Srinagar’s transport network with smart traffic systems, modern design features, and pedestrian-friendly lanes. Residents, transporters, and traders hailed the developments as a “double gift for Srinagar.” “After so many years, we can finally see real change. This bridge and the new flyover will transform how people move and live,” said a shopkeeper from Qamarwari. The event concluded with the Chief Minister inspecting the bridge alongside senior officials, followed by cultural performances and sweet distribution among delighted residents.
