Srinagar: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader Iltija Mufti on Thursday went to a police station to file a First Information Report (FIR) against Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, alleging insult and humiliation of a Muslim woman following the recent veil-pulling incident. Speaking to reporters, Iltija Mufti said the act had hurt the sentiments of Muslims and amounted to an attack on personal dignity and constitutional values. She asserted that such actions cannot be justified under any circumstances and demanded strict legal action. “This is not a minor issue. Pulling a woman’s veil is an insult to her dignity and freedom. The law must take its course,” she said, adding that the FIR was being filed to ensure accountability at the highest level. The move comes amid widespread outrage and protests across Jammu and Kashmir and other parts of the country, with several political and religious leaders condemning the incident and demanding an apology from the Bihar Chief Minister.
