In a significant step toward bringing government services closer to people living in remote areas, a three-day Mobile Passport Van Service Camp has been conducted in JK's Ramban. The initiative was aimed to make passport services more accessible and efficient for citizens. As part of the Public Outreach Programme aimed at improving citizen services, the Regional Passport Office Jammu under the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India conducted a three-day Mobile Passport Van Service Camp in the premises of the District Administrative Complex, Ramban. The camp was formally inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Mohammad Alyas Khan, in the presence of Tehsildar Ramban Deep Kumar, Section Officer Sunil Kher, and other officials. DC Mohammad Alyas Khan said, “This Mobile Passport Van Camp is a great opportunity for residents of Ramban district to apply for passports without having to travel long distances. We urge everyone to take full advantage of this citizen-friendly service.” The Deputy Commissioner appreciated the efforts of the Regional Passport Office Jammu and the Ministry of External Affairs for organizing the camp and promoting doorstep service delivery in the district. He said that such initiatives make governance more transparent, efficient, and citizen-centric, particularly benefiting people living in hilly and far-flung areas. The Mobile Passport Van is fully equipped for biometric enrolment and on-site document verification, ensuring convenience and saving valuable time for applicants. The District Administration has assured full cooperation to ensure smooth functioning of the camp and maximum public participation. The three-day camp reflects the government’s continued commitment to taking public services to the people’s doorstep, strengthening the idea of “Ease of Living” in remote districts like Ramban. With such innovative outreach efforts, the administration hopes to bridge service delivery gaps and empower citizens across rural and hilly regions.
