Anchor: Like every year, Shab-e-Baraat was observed with religious fervour and devotion across Ramban district on the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday. Night-long prayers and special religious gatherings were held at all major masjids and shrines of District Ramban. Thousands of devotees thronged prominent religious places to seek Allah’s blessings, mercy, and forgiveness. In Banihal, a large number of devotees offered night-long prayers at the Shrine of Sheikh Syed Abdul Qadir Jeelani (RA), popularly known as Dargah Peer Dastageer Sahib Krawa, and Jamia Masjid Gosia Krawa, Banihal. Devotees also participated in special prayers at Jamia Masjid Gund, Masjid Tethar, and Markazi Jamia Masjid Banihal. Shab-e-Baraat, one of the most sacred nights in Islam, is observed on the intervening night of the 14th and 15th of Sha‘ban, the eighth month of the Islamic calendar. Speaking on the occasion, Imam of Jamia Dargah Peer Dastageer Sahib, Mukhtyar Attari, said that special night-long prayers were organized at the shrine and other masjids. He added that during the sermons, emphasis was laid on the religious significance of the holy night. “The programme began soon after Maghrib prayers and continued throughout the night. Special prayers were offered for peace, prosperity, Brotherhood and harmony in Jammu and Kashmir as well as for the entire country,” he said. On this occasion, scholars from different areas also visited the shrine in Karwah and shed light on the significance of Shab-e-Barat. Meanwhile, the shrine management had made elaborate arrangements to facilitate devotees during the night-long prayers. Devotees also appreciated the district administration and police for making foolproof security and traffic arrangements on the eve of Shab-e-Baraat. Similar prayer gatherings were also held in Ramban, Batote, Gool, Sangaldan, Khari, and other areas of Ramban district.
