In a bid to curb profiteering and prevent the sale of substandard food items during the holy month of Ramadan, the district administration Pulwama launched a special market checking drive across the town. The drive was carried out under the supervision of the Tehsildar Pulwama, who, along with a team of officials, inspected various markets in Pulwama town. Grocery shops, vegetable vendors, and dry fruit stores were thoroughly checked to ensure the quality and safety of food items being sold to consumers. During the inspection, the team examined expiry dates of edible items and found several products that had crossed their expiry dates. The expired food items were destroyed on the spot to safeguard public health. Officials also imposed fines on shopkeepers found violating market regulations and warned traders against overpricing and selling expired or substandard goods.
