Pre-Eid Market Inspection in Bandipora: Expired Items Seized, Destroyed; Penalties Imposed Authorities in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district conducted a surprise inspection of markets ahead of Eid and seized a quantity of expired food items, officials said on Thursday. A joint team of officials from the Food Safety Department, revenue officials, Municipal authorities and the district administration inspected several shops and business establishments across Bandipora town and adjoining areas to ensure the availability of safe and quality food items for consumers during the festive season. During the inspection drive, the team found several expired and substandard food products, which were immediately seized and destroyed on the spot. Officials said strict action was taken against erring shopkeepers for violating food safety norms. Penalties were also imposed on a number of traders for selling expired products and failing to maintain proper hygiene standards in their establishments. Tehsildar Bandipora said the inspections were carried out as part of a pre-Eid market checking campaign to safeguard public health and prevent the sale of unsafe food items during the busy shopping period. The authorities urged shopkeepers to strictly adhere to food safety regulations and warned that strict action would be taken against anyone found selling expired or adulterated items.
