Political leader and former Deputy Mayor of Srinagar, Parvez Qadri, stirred controversy on Friday with remarks over the ongoing Ladakh unrest. Qadri said the people of Jammu and Kashmir have “no concern” with Ladakh, recalling that when Article 370, 35A, and statehood were revoked in 2019, “Ladakhis celebrated while J&K was degraded.” He stressed, “We condemn the killings and injuries, but we have no sympathy with them.” Responding to NC President Farooq Abdullah’s recent press conference, Qadri remarked that though Abdullah may seek to normalize the unrest in Ladakh as a senior leader, the NC has “always misled the people of Jammu and Kashmir with alluring statements.” Qadri underlined that J&K’s foremost demand remains the restoration of Article 370, 35A, and full statehood along with a complete political, social, and democratic structure.
