A massive fire broke out at Government Girls Higher Secondary School Qazigund on Tuesday morning, causing extensive damage to the school building. Locals told that the fire engulfed the structure, resulting in the school being gutted before it could be brought under control. Fire and Emergency Services (F&ES) personnel rushed to the spot and launched firefighting operations with the assistance of local residents. Efforts were underway to douse the flames and prevent the fire from spreading further. The cause of the fire was not immediately known, while assessment of losses was underway at the time of filing this report.
