Kishtwar,
Exclusive Ground Zero Report on Major Counter-Terror Success: All 7 JeM Terrorists of Saifullah Group Neutralised in Kishtwar Over One Year Senior Army and Police Officers Brief Media at 5 Sector HQ Kishtwar Zero Casualties to Security Forces in Month-Long Operation K9 Hero Tyson Injured While Clearing Terrorist Hideout, Now Stable Slug-2302ZS_KTR_JEM_KILLED_R By Raja Rehber Jamal Location-Kishtwar Anchor:In a major counter-terrorism success, security forces have neutralised all seven terrorists of the Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) commander Saifullah group in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district over the past one year, culminating with the successful execution of Operation Trashi-I. Senior officers of the Army and Police, including the GOC Delta Force, Commander 9 Sector, IGP Jammu, and DIG DKR Range Shridhar Patil, addressed a joint press conference at 5 Sector Headquarters, Kishtwar, detailing the long-drawn operation. The officers stated that a major terror module operating in the region had been under relentless pursuit since April–May 2025. Despite extremely challenging weather conditions, including heavy rains and snowfall during winter, security forces sustained operations without interruption. The first breakthrough came in April 2025, when three hardcore terrorists were eliminated during sustained encounters. However, the group’s leader Saifullah, his close associate Adil, and two others managed to evade capture and remained on the run. Based on consolidated intelligence inputs from the Jammu and Kashmir Police, Intelligence Bureau, and own military sources, a Joint Counter Terrorism Operation, codenamed Operation Trashi-I, was launched on 14 January 2026 in the Chhatroo area of Kishtwar. The operation was led by the Counter Insurgency Force (CIF) Delta under White Knight Corps, with participation from the Central Reserve Police Force, Assam Rifles, and J&K Police. On 18 January 2026, security forces established contact with the terrorists and busted a well-prepared and heavily stocked hideout. Continued pressure led to the elimination of terrorist Adil on 4 February 2026 under Operation Trashi-I, while two more terrorists were neutralised the same day in a separate operation, Operation Kiya. Following the February 4 encounter, troops continued an intense pursuit with unwavering determination. The remaining terrorists were re-engaged at around 1100 hours on 22 February 2026 in extremely rugged terrain. Demonstrating exceptional tactical precision, seamless inter-agency coordination, and high operational efficiency, security forces successfully neutralised the final four hardcore terrorists after a month-long large-scale operation. The final encounter site, located on steep mountain slopes, was effectively cordoned off during the night of 21–22 February 2026. Notably, the troops ensured zero casualties among own forces. The role of Army-trained sniffer dog Tyson deserves special mention. Tyson courageously entered a dhok to confirm the presence of terrorists and was injured when militants opened fire. The K9 hero is stable. Search operations at the encounter site have so far led to the recovery of war-like stores, including three AK-47 rifles, along with the bodies of the slain terrorists. Security forces highlighted the seamless coordination between the Army, CRPF, and J&K Police, especially the Special Operations Group (SOG). Reinforcements, including special forces, were swiftly mobilised. Advanced real-time surveillance drones and night-vision equipment were deployed to track and block terrorist movement, preventing any escape. Officials further informed that CIF (Delta), under White Knight Corps, Northern Command, has eliminated six Pakistan-sponsored terrorists in its area of responsibility over the past 20 days, based on multi-source intelligence. The formation reaffirmed its commitment to continue intelligence-based operations, sustain operational momentum, and maintain complete dominance in the region.
