Vice President of J&K Peoples Conference, Abdul Gani Vakil today expressed serious concern over the contradictory and confusing statements made by Omar Abdullah, which reflect his frustration and lack of clarity. Referring to the hijab issue, Vakil said it is surprising that Omar Abdullah made remarks comparing statements of Nitish Kumar and Mehbooba Mufti, wherein it was stated that women can touch other women, but men have no right to touch women, even the veil (hijab) of women. Such statements, he said, are highly irresponsible and misleading. Vakil further pointed out Omar Abdullah’s contradictory stand regarding the Central Government support. On one hand, he blamed the Centre for interference in administration, while on the other hand, in a recent statement, he claimed that he received support from the Central Government, particularly financial assistance. These contradictions expose his political confusion and inconsistency. He said the government has failed even in basic governance, including ensuring uninterrupted power supply. The existing power schedule is not being followed, causing immense inconvenience to the public. Moreover, no serious efforts have been made to provide employment to educated youth, resulting in growing frustration among them, which poses a grave risk to social stability. Abdul Gani Vakil asserted that such governance failures and irresponsible statements have completely eroded public trust. He reiterated that the people of Jammu and Kashmir deserve accountable, stable, and transparent leadership—not confusion, excuses, and blame games.
