Ganderbal में हिट-एंड-रन मुआवजे योजना की समीक्षा; 15 अनट्रेस मामलों पर कार्रवाई

In compliance with the directions issued by the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India vide order dated 12.01.2024 in WP (Crl) No. 295 of 2012, IA No. 71387 of 2023 titled S. Rajaseekaran V/s union of India & Others, and in furtherance of the implementation of the Compensation to Victims of Hit and Run Motor Accidents Scheme, 2022 (as amended in 2025), a bi-monthly review meeting of the Monitoring Committee was convened today in the office chamber of Secretary DLSA, Ganderbal, to review the implementation of the Compensation to Victims of Hit and Run Motor Accidents Scheme, 2022 (as amended in 2025).
The meeting was chaired by Sheikh Babar Hussain, Secretary, DLSA Ganderbal, and attended by Sheikh Salahu-ud-Din, Assistant Commissioner Revenue (Claims Inquiry Officer) Ganderbal, and Owaise Rashid, Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Ganderbal.
The Secretary, DLSA Ganderbal, emphasized the importance of the Monitoring Committee's role in ensuring the effective implementation of the Compensation to Victims of Hit and Run Motor Accidents Scheme, 2022 (as amended in 2025), which provides for compensation to victims of hit and run motor accidents, with compensation amounts of ₹2 lakhs for death and ₹50,000 for grievous injury.
During the meeting, the Secretary, DLSA Ganderbal, discussed the 26 hit and run cases registered in District Ganderbal since January 2022, with 15 cases remained untraced. The Assistant Commissioner Revenue (Claims Inquiry Officer), Ganderbal, informed that no compensation has been disbursed to any victim, dependent, or legal heir of the deceased pursuant to the scheme.
The meeting resolved to take several steps to implement the scheme, including the Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Ganderbal will provide complete and accurate particulars of all 15 untraced hit and run victims to DLSA Ganderbal within 10 days.
The DLSA Ganderbal will contact the victims or their legal heirs and facilitate their appearance before the Claims Inquiry Officer, Ganderbal. The committee will ensure to conduct awareness programs and outreach initiatives to inform the general public about the Compensation to Victims of Hit and Run Motor Accidents Scheme, 2022. The Monitoring Committee will convene bi-monthly meetings to review the implementation of the scheme.
Mr. Sheikh Babar Hussain, Secretary, DLSA Ganderbal, emphasized the importance of timely coordination between the administration, police, and DLSA to ensure that eligible victims receive compensation without delay. He stressed that the committee is committed to safeguarding the rights of victims and their families and ensuring that the benefits under the Hit and Run Motor Accidents Scheme, 2022 (as amended in 2025), reach all affected families.
The meeting concluded with a reaffirmation of the committee's commitment to ensuring that the victims of hit and run motor accidents and their families receive the compensation and support they are entitled to under the law.
