In Jammu and Kashmir’s Ramban district, Chief Agriculture Officer Vinay Kumar Jandial visited Banihal today and interacted with local beekeepers. His visit comes after Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised Ramban’s Sulai Honey in the latest episode of Mann ki Baat. Chief Agriculture Officer Ramban, Vinay Kumar Jandial, reached the Agriculture Office in Banihal today where he met a group of beekeepers—many of whom are associated with the production of the now-famous Sulai Honey. The meeting comes days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his Mann ki Baat address, highlighted the hard work of Ramban’s beekeepers. The PM said that honeybees in the hilly areas of Jammu and Kashmir produce a rare white-coloured honey from wild basil—locally known as Sulai. This honey, now GI-tagged, is gaining recognition across India as Ramban’s Sulai Honey. CAO Ramban, Vinay Kumar Jandial said, "I came here specially to congratulate the beekeepers. It is not a small matter that the Prime Minister of the country has appreciated their hard work. This will further boost their morale." The CAO said the Prime Minister’s acknowledgment will boost morale and help make Sulai Honey a brand with global potential. During the interaction, beekeepers also placed a key demand—that Sulai Honey be included under insurance coverage to protect them from losses caused by wild animal attacks and natural calamities. With the Prime Minister’s appreciation bringing national attention to Sulai Honey, local beekeepers now hope for further government support to strengthen this growing industry.
