As predicted by the Meteorological Department, the higher reaches of Bhaderwah received fresh snowfall since yesterday while the plains being lashed with torrential rains, leading to a sharp dip in temperatures across the valley. Amid the prevailing inclement weather conditions, the authorities have issued an advisory asking residents and visitors to remain cautious and avoid unnecessary travel, particularly in hilly and landslide-prone areas. SDPO Bhaderwah Naveed Shoket Qazi said that in view of fresh snowfall in the upper reaches of Bhaderwah, visitors are requested to avoid travelling to high-altitude tourist destinations including Guldanda, Padri and Jaie Valley until the weather conditions improve. He said that after the fresh snowfall, roads leading to these higher reaches have become slippery and dangerous for driving, posing a risk to commuters and tourists. Meanwhile, the District Administration Doda has also advised the general public to stay indoors during heavy rainfall and avoid going near rivers, streams and other vulnerable areas as continuous rain may cause slippery roads and reduced visibility. People have been urged to immediately report any emergency or untoward incident to the concerned authorities.
