Locals fear a major mishap. The Doda–Bharat Road, which connects several hilly tehsils with the main town, has turned into a high-risk stretch after a major retaining wall collapsed over a month ago. With no restoration work initiated yet, locals fear a major mishap. A crucial 100-meter retaining wall along the Doda–Bharat Road has collapsed, leaving the vital link in a dangerous condition. Heavy rainfall triggered a partial landslide, reducing the road to a narrow single lane, forcing vehicles to move one by one. Locals say despite repeated requests, the concerned department has failed to begin restoration work even after a month, raising fears of a serious accident at any moment. A local Ashiq Hussain said, “Gaadiyan mushkil se nikalti hain… kabhi bhi koi haadsa ho sakta hai. Kaam to nai ho raha.” Officials admit the wall caved in due to continuous rains that destabilised the soil. They say reconstruction has been delayed because the ground remains unstable. According to AEE PWD Doda Division Mukesh Kumar said, "a ₹134-lakh project report has been submitted to higher authorities… and repair work is expected to start soon." Locals, however, are demanding immediate action, saying the damaged road poses a daily threat to commuters and school-going children.
