The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Jammu and Kashmir unit, held a press conference addressed by party spokesperson Altaf Thakur. Speaking on the matter of jailed separatist leader Yasin Malik, Thakur reiterated the BJP’s firm stand on issues linked with terrorism and national security. He said that those responsible for disturbing peace and indulging in anti-national activities cannot be projected as victims or political icons. Thakur stressed that the BJP remains committed to ensuring justice for victims of militancy in J&K and maintaining law and order. He added that the party stands with the government’s approach to dealing with separatist leaders under due process of law. The remarks come at a time when Malik’s case has again drawn attention at political and public levels, sparking debates in the Valley.
