Bandipora Felicitates Young Women Achievers, Highlights Rising Crimes Against Women. The Jammu and Kashmir Association of Social Workers, in collaboration with the Azim Premji Foundation and the District Administration Bandipora, organised a day-long programme under Project Noor to felicitate young women achievers from the district. The event brought together more than 100 participants, including young women achievers, students, social workers, and officials, to celebrate women’s accomplishments while addressing the growing social challenges they face. Speakers congratulated the achievers for breaking barriers in education, sports, entrepreneurship, and social work, and expressed concern over the rising crimes against women, particularly in the digital space. Online abuse, harassment, and negative comments on social media platforms are increasingly affecting women’s mental health and confidence, forcing many to limit their public engagement and, in some cases, remain confined to their homes. The need for stronger digital safety awareness, community support systems, and strict action against cyber harassment was emphasised to ensure a safer environment for women. Families and institutions were urged to encourage young girls to pursue their ambitions without fear or social pressure. Interactive sessions and panel discussions featured several young women achievers sharing their journeys, highlighting the challenges they faced and how perseverance, education, and support helped them succeed despite societal constraints. Through Project Noor, organisers aim to reach every corner of Bandipora to empower girls—not only through education but also by helping them gain practical skills and platforms to showcase their talent. The aim is to build confidence, independence, and equal opportunities for young women, as stated by the organisers. The programme was attended by DFO Bandipora Waseem Farooq Mir, officers from the Social Welfare Department, members of DLSA, and several other activists. Project Noor seeks to empower young women by recognizing their achievements, amplifying their voices, and creating awareness about the social and digital challenges they encounter. The programme concluded with a felicitation ceremony honouring the young women for their contributions and resilience.
