Company commander of a Bangladeshi rapid action battalion has said that no evidence has been found against Deepu for making any derogatory remarks about Islam. Deepu used to work in a textile factory in Bhaluka. It is alleged that he made objectionable remarks about Islam. However, the company commander has stated that no evidence has been found against Deepu and that no such person has been identified who made objectionable statements about Islam. There are reports and rumors that Deepu Chandra Das made objectionable comments about Islam, which angered factory workers who demanded his dismissal. A crowd gathered outside the factory. Alamgir Hussain, floor in-charge of the factory, said that the mob demanded Deepu be handed over. Initially, factory management tried to protect Deepu by keeping him in a security room. Police did not reach the spot, and the situation got out of control. The factory management then handed Deepu over to the mob to safeguard the premises.
